What is the best video converter/dvd burning software?

I download many torrents, so I have movies and tv shows that are all in .avi. I want to buy software online that allows me to burn these shows onto dvd's. I tried AVS but it wouldn't burn a whole movie on one disk, it took 2 (4.7 gig, 120 min) disks. I want quality! What do you recommend?
