I put in a car system. Everything works but when i put in my cd, my speakers dont work, only my subs do.help?

ok so i have 2 12 inch subs, a 1000 watt amp, and a sony cd deck. I have evrything working but when i turn on the radio, my speakers are fine but the b is low. I turned evrything up on the cd deck. The wierd thing is also when i put in a cd, the music only comes out of my subs, and nothing out of my speakers. please let me know anything that would help. I have already tried messing with the deck and nothing works.mabey i have something plugged in wring. this is all in a 04 dodge stratus r/t
